Saputara







Saputara means the 'Adobe of Serpent', is oerched at an altitude of 1000 m, and is situated in the heart of Dangs district. It is located on the second highest plateau of the Sahyadari range with cool bracing climate and a scenic view of the verdant valley. Saputara has been dveloped as a planned hill resort with all the necessary amenities. The thick forest around Saputara is dotted with tribal villages and their unique dances are of great interest. Gujarat's picturesque hill station is perched on a plateau in the Dang forest area of the Sahyadri Range. At an altitude of about 1000 m.




It has a cool bracing climate, the highest temperature even in the summer months not exceeding 28 Degrees C. Saputara means the Adobe of Serpents and a snake image on the banks of the river Sarpagana is worshipped by the Adivasis on festivals like Holi.




Saputara has been developed as a planned hill resort with all the necessary ameneties like hotels, parks, swimming pools, boat club, theatres and a museum to ensure an enjoyable holiday in the cool of the hills. Saputara is only 156 km from Surat.




As per 2011 census of India, the Saputara notified area has population of 2,968 of which 1,031 are males while 1,937 are females.The literacy rate of Saputara is 87.4%. Thus Saputara has higher literacy rate compared to 75.2% of The Dangs district. The male literacy rate is 89.73% and the female literacy rate is 86.29% in Saputara.
