Panhala is a city and a Hill station in state of Maharashtra and country INDIA. Municipal Council (3177 feet above sea level) 18 km northwest of Kholapur, in Kolhapur district in the INDIAN state of Maharashtra . Panhala is smallest city in Maharashtra state and being a Municipal Council the city is developing very fastly The city sprawls in the panhala forts commands a panoramic view of the valley below. Pasarhar Caves
Panhala was traditionally considered the residence of Maharishi Parashara. The Karvir or Kolhapur Puran, a modern (1730) compilation, mentions Panhala as Pannagalay (home of serpents). In old inscriptions the name appears as Pranlak and Padmanal. These are supposed to be the caves where the sage Parashar lived. morophant an 18th-century Marathi poet, wrote most of his work in these caves. Moropant birtplace is Panhala.[1] These caves are mentioned in the Karvir Puraan as tirths (holy water).[

Panhala fort is also known as Panhalgad, Panhalla is located in panhala, 20 kilometres northwest of kolhapur in Maharashtra, India. It is strategically located looking over a pass in the sahyadri mountain range which was a major trade route from Bijar in the interior of Maharashtra to the coastal areas. Due to its strategic location, it was the centre of several skirmishes in the Deccan involving the Marathas, the Mugals and the British East Indian Company , the most notable being the Battle of pavan Khind. Here, the queen regent of kolhapur, Tarabai , spent her formative years. Several parts of the fort and the structures within are still intact.
SAJJA KOTHI
Sajja Kothi is among the places where Shivaji Maharaj used to hold his meetings during wars. This fort was constructed under the rules of Marathas and so it is considered as an important monument in Maharashtra. Sambhaji was at this fort when he was informed about the death of his father, Shivaji maharaj .
